Timeless Reading Chairs

The Canopy Chair is a reproduction of the Porter’s Chair. In the 16th century it protected the porter from drafts and the hooded back amplified sounds for closer surveillance. The entire design is clearly pratical in its own intimate environment, then and today. But more than just comfortable and practical it is an unusual accent piece likely to create curiosity. The design, choice of material with exposed brass nail heads portrays timeless quality.

21st Century Reading Chairs

“There is a difference between reading a book or a Nook”

You can not tell if any chair is comfortable until you have occupied it for a least an hour and with differenc gadgets. These reading chairs have been designed with smart phones, tablets, keyboards and lap tops in mind. They are comfortable, practical, ergonomic and a source of entertainnment.

Whether you are checking your Email, social media or working on a presentation,it is nice to have a space within a space –your living room, your bedroom or even your desk –that is semi private, quiet and above all inviting.

No doubt your interior designer will approve.

The New American Minimalism

Authentic –Organic –Local.   Our taste in furnishings as in fashion is fickle. Local isn’t just about food. The new American minimalism with clean shapes and forthright finishes are all the rage.

CLUTTER robs you of your time and peace of mind

Identify clutter hot spots like kitchens, home offices, night tables, magazines and newspapers on the living room floor.

Purge and purge often. Think of the last time you used stuff, the condition and often duplication.  Get rid of it. There is really no point owning anything unless you use it. But show off the beauty of keepsakes and take care of them.

Space out the project and deal with it a little at a time. 15 minutes a day will make your life easier and your home tidier. Please put your finished utensils in the dishwasher right away, deal with your mail, file away paid bills and letters and recycle junk then and there. Regularly sort through your closet of clothing to determine what you can give away.

You home will organized and cleaning a  much easier task.

As an interior designer I can assist you with space layout, ideas, furnishings, accessories and tips to help you organize you home.

Bedroom Ideas

Mostly tradition dictates that beds are placed against a wall in stagnent symmetry. But why not liberate the bed from its expected position into a diagonal pose to free float it from convention. At first the new look is unusual. But soon a feeling of adventure will emerge and a lift to the senses.

HALLWAYS

Hallways are transitional spaces. Frank Lloyd Wright stated that hallways were crucial to the arrival experience. Color palette and lighting need to provide an appealing passage to the surrounding rooms. A hallway can be creatively designed. Colors can differ from other design elements such as furniture, artwork and windows. Hallways are the appetizers to the meal, the precursors to the following rooms.
